Shennong Stigmata Guide by Reinbex

Hey, Captains! Today we are going to be taking a look at the Gentle Herbalist Set Shennong that will be available through Crafting via Bounty in version 4.1. Shennong was available from day one of the game’s release. In this guide, we will review the set’s functions, which valkyries will not enjoy the set the most, and how much you should not get this stigmata set.

Stigmata Skill Review

Shennong (T): Provides temporary Physical DMG and DEF bonuses. When the host picks up an SP pack, only the host alone receives the temporary benefits. Despite the high buffs the T stig provides, it’s much too short of a bonus for picking up an SP pack. SP packs usually drop after killing enemies or depleting certain amounts of Bosses health. Since SP packs aren’t always around for the host to pick up, making this a terrible stigmata, save for Phoenix's SP pack creation skill. The bonuses are hard to trigger whenever you want, do not even last for a long enough time, and even come with a cooldown to prevent a consistent flow of the bonuses.

Shennong (M): Provides temporary attack speed and move speed bonuses. Shennong M is even worse than the T piece. Only picking up gold, which does not drop in Abyss and Memorial Arena, will boost the host’s atk speed and movement speed for a mere 7s. Not only does this piece require the host to pick up gold to trigger its effects, the bonuses the piece provides are not worth it. There are other stigmatas who can do better, and even then, a piece that purely provides attack speed and move speed bonuses are not impactful.

Shennong (B): Provides a temporary shield. The last piece of the set requires the host to get hit FIRST before receiving a shield that can tank some damage. This requirement contradicts the purpose of the shield in the first place. And even then, there are a couple of other reasons why this piece is bad. A good player would want to avoid getting hit as much as possible, thereby minimizing the amount of times you will ever get to set up the shield. And when you do set up the shield, the shield has about a third of your health. Likely, even before your shield’s hp gets depleted and disappears, the shield will disappear in 5s. The only purpose of this piece is to help the host regain control of her situation without getting constantly attacked down, but Drive Kometa’s passive shield for her team does this piece’s job much better.

2-pc bonus: Can potentially nullify physical dmg from weakened foes. While weakening enemies is easier now with the help of DK’s crippling field, DK also provides a shield that takes in damage, making this effect pointless. If there is no DK barrier to consider, this effect is very weak. It provides a pathetic 40% chance of nullifying non-Elemental DMG from weakened enemies. It’s not always ensured and does not even stop any and all kinds of damage. And once again, the player should follow good player behaviors such as avoiding getting hit at all. This 2-pc effect is extremely bad.

3-pc bonus: Increases value of hp/sp packs by 1.5x. This is the only good passive effect of the set with a decent effect. Unfortunately, it’s not great enough to offset the sheer negative influence this set seeps into your account. Owning all 3 pieces will only validate the meme-ness of your account to no extent.

Recommended For

Absolutely no one.

No valkyrie of yours should be disgraced. They do not deserve to be mistreated by equipping Shennong. Despite Shennong T having some sort of use, that does not excuse the terrible requirements it needs to barely support your valkyrie. Don’t even bother equipping or upgrading for stat bonuses, there are other better stigmatas out there!

Closing Thoughts

If you come across any pieces, do not attempt to farm nor exchange for them. Fortunately, Mihoyo knows not to troll us for Shennong has not been seen in an uprate nor offrates in any banners. Now, if you unfortunately, for some reason, still have a piece or two lying around in your inventory, I highly advise salvaging it immediately for Resonator. Shennong is one of the worst if not the worst set in the game.
